It's so funny to me that the most natural thing in the world can at first feel like trying to bend a spoon with your mind.
Anxiety and depression are thieves. They steal my confidence, my will to keep going. They tell me that no one cares what I have to say, that I’m not enough, that I’m stupid. They tell me my ambitions and goals are unreachable, that I should just stop trying.
I'm finally sharing our Disney World experience, including the good, the bad, and the cranky. I added a few of the life-saving things we packed (and what we should have packed), Disney-inspired outfits, tips for traveling with a teething toddler, and cute photos I never posted!
I thought I was going to ace this whole delivery and postpartum thing. Then just about everything fell apart.
I feel like a big fat hypocrite for even writing this. At the moment, I could use about six additional hours of sleep, a hot shower, haircut, pedicure, and maybe just a moment or two to myself without a baby grabbing at my chest, a husband asking me a billion questions I don't have the answers to, or a dog begging me for my lunch.
The whole way there I told him, "They're going to tell me I peed myself and send me home. Stop freaking out." Although I was starting to feel light contractions in the car, I was still in denial. Once we got there and registered, I could feel the contractions getting stronger. Dallas was helping me change into a hospital gown when the rest of my water broke all over the bathroom. This time I was sure that I wasn't peeing myself. I looked at him and the nurse and finally admitted, "okay...maybe I'm in labor."
I've decided to start this blog back up because I need more in my life. I always have. This is my creative outlet. And now, more than ever, I have stories to tell. They've been burning up inside me for well over a year, and I'm ready to share.
Last weekend I had the opportunity to take the beautiful Alyssa's senior photos in Marion and Gruene, TX. Alyssa is graduating from Marion High School in a couple of months and is interested in pursing agricultural science. We had a lot of fun trying to make Alyssa laugh, playing with how to shoot in the super bright [...]
Because I had so much fun taking my sister-in-law's senior pictures, I decided to take her senior prom photos as well. And bonus, I invested in a new camera! These were all taken with Nikon's D330 and edited with Photoshop CS6. It was a really good opportunity for me to get some experience shooting groups [...]
As promised in my last post, I'm so excited to share the senior portraits I shot for my sister-in-law. I've known Sam for almost seven years, so obviously this was a lot of fun. We shot on our property in Marion, in Austin, in Gruene, and a few at Canyon High School in New Braunfels. Sam loves animals and working with children. She is proud to be attending Texas Lutheran University in the fall and plans to pursue a career in education.
